Frequently Asked Questions
Pick the time zone the time is in, the time zone you want, and enter the time. The converter works out the offset between the two for today's date, including any daylight saving time, and shows the matching time and day.
Yes. Offsets are calculated for the current date, so summer time in Europe, North America and elsewhere is applied automatically. For example, Central European Time is UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer.
For everyday use they show the same time. UTC is the modern scientific standard kept by atomic clocks; GMT is the older name for the time at Greenwich, London. The UK uses GMT in winter and BST (UTC+1) in summer.
India Standard Time is UTC+5:30, chosen as a single time zone for the whole country centred near its middle. A few other regions also use half-hour or 45-minute offsets, such as Nepal (UTC+5:45).
